About the forum
What the Asia Forum on Nicotine is
The Asia Forum on Nicotine (AFN) is a regional conference focused on science‑based tobacco harm reduction and safer nicotine products in the Asia‑Pacific region. It launched in 2025 as a virtual forum bringing together experts, advocates, clinicians, and consumers to discuss proportionate regulation and pragmatic harm‑reduction strategies for Asia’s high‑smoking‑prevalence countries. It aims to provide a comprehensive overview of tobacco harm reduction (THR), including scientific, medical and consumer perspectives, with a focus on the unique challenges and opportunities in the Asia-Pacific Region.
AFN is organised and hosted by HARAP (Harm Reduction Alliance of the Philippines), The Vapers Philippines, Malaysia Society for Harm Reduction, and the Coalition of Asia Pacific Tobacco Harm Reduction Advocates (CAPHRA). The organisers position AFN as an Asia‑specific counterpart to broader global nicotine and THR conferences, designed to elevate regional evidence, case studies, and lived experiences that are often underrepresented in global forums.
